As a leader it's important to be self aware of your leadership style and knowledgeable of the different varieties that exist. Hiring managers may even ask about personal style to asses the level of compatibility to the organization. They may also want to see how self aware you are and how you are willing to adapt under certain situations. This question may be overwhelming at first, but with practice and knowledge can become easier over time. The following are ways you can enhance your self awareness and knowledge about leadership styles to prepare for a future in leadership or management.
The first way to become more self aware of your personal leadership style is to conduct a self assessment. This can be done through online personality tests such as the Myer Briggs assessment, StrengthsFinder and DiSC Personality. These tools can help apply strengths and improvement in areas of weakness. The help form a coach can also be beneficial in this to gain further understanding on how to apply your skills in a leadership position.
A second strategy to becoming more self aware is to reflect on experiences and feedback from your past managers and leaders as this holds strong indicators of personality and leadership styles. Things you've been told by past managers can be translated into an indicator of your type of personality leading to what kind of leadership style you likely would embellish. As well requesting constructive feedback from managers can help in molding leadership style towards a successful career of your own.
Lastly it is important to study and gain knowledge of the variety of leadership styles that exist. It is important to take note of how the styles can be adapted to compliment certain situations or cause harm in some. This knowledge skill will be require when needing to adjust to certain goals, values, personalities and behavior when leading a team or organization in the future.

This article has opened my mind to current options available I can utilize to become a successful leader in the future. After reading this I learned that many hiring managers may ask questions about your leadership style and how you are able to adapt under situations. without gaining knowledge and practicing skills this question can be near impossible to answer. Hence why I will start becoming aware and learning these skills now so I can learn to be a successful leader in my future.
