Communication is a highly valued skill when it comes to effective leaders. Those who take advantage of working on communication are more likely to bring their teams towards success. Further, understanding members communication styles and getting to know them on a more personal level builds connections within the team. As well there is importance in being transparent and genuine to create an environment of trust where team members are confident in their leaders. Having structured and positive communication between members will improve the overall performance of the team.

Next it is important for leaders to create a space where team members are empowered through opportunities to grow. This means helping and encouraging members through challenges and difficult tasks to increase motivation. In addition leaders should consider the impact of positive feedback. By maintaining a positive attitude in difficult situations. Leaders are able to help teams learn through problems rather than discouraging them.

Another great characteristic of a exceptional leader involves setting clear goals and expectations for the team.  In order to motivate and inspire leaders need to keep their members focused on visions and goals. Through this members can stay connected and understand how they are contributing. Further to create an effective environment at reaching goals feedback should always be encouraged from both ends. 

In conclusion characteristics of a good leader take time to adapt and master. Through gaining knowledge and practicing these skills managers and leaders can promote positivity, increase motivation and performance towards organizational goals.

Thoughts

Learning the characteristics involved in being a good leader are important to me as I plan to use them currently and in the future. Acquiring this knowledge now gives me time to put these skills to practice and to continue my growth as a leader. As I am always looking to grow in this field. Reading this article gives me the opportunity to consider areas where I can work to improve for my future.
